Vap Construction, Inc., a leading builder of post frame structures in the Midwest, was honored with the 2024 "Building of the Year" award in the Livestock Buildings category by the National Frame Building Association (NFBA). The award was presented at the NFBA Expo Awards Banquet held in Knoxville, Tennessee in early April 2025.
The winning project - a 40’ x 92’ x 16’ post frame livestock facility - was built for our client John Cicerelle and stood out for its functionality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Designed with both durability and usability in mind, the structure reflects Vap Construction’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Several distinctive features set this project apart, including a non-vented decorative cupola, window covers with track systems for easy adjustment, and classic Dutch doors with crossbucks. Perhaps most notably, the design incorporates a custom-built tunnel beneath the building, offering convenient access to the customer’s nearby home. Post frame construction played a critical role in maximizing the utility and aesthetic of the building. Scissor trusses were used to create additional overhead space, allowing for a future loft area, while the post frame method enabled the team to achieve greater structure height and adaptability. The result is a visually striking and highly functional facility designed to meet the long-term needs of the client.

“We’re incredibly proud to receive this recognition from the NFBA,” said Linda Young-Vap, co-owner of Vap Construction, Inc. “This award reflects the dedication of our entire team - from sales and design to the crews in the field. We're grateful to our client, John, for trusting us with this project and thrilled to see the work honored at a national level.”
The NFBA’s Building of the Year awards recognize outstanding projects across several categories, with submissions judged on design, quality of construction, and innovation. To be eligible, builders must meet rigorous criteria, including NFBA membership and accreditation, licensing, and a proven track record of excellence in the post-frame construction industry.

Vap Construction, Inc. was officially incorporated in 2005, following Jeff Vap’s decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry, which began in 1980. At the time of their marriage in the early 2000s, Linda Young-Vap was new to the field, but together, the couple combined Jeff’s technical expertise with Linda’s organizational and communication strengths to build a business with lasting impact. What began in a small home office with a few dedicated family members has since grown into a leading construction firm serving Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming. As Vap Construction prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025, Jeff and Linda take pride in the company’s evolution - from its humble beginnings to a multi-generational operation. Today, they are gradually transitioning leadership to the next generation, including longtime team member Jennifer Leitner, ensuring that the company’s legacy of quality, trust, and community commitment continues for years to come.
